Half a million coronavirus testing kits recalled over safety concerns
Spot checks revealed a batch of swabs from the Government’s main supplier were not sterile – raising concerns about their reliability.Half a million Covid testing kits made by Randox have been recalled over safety concernsNorthern Ireland-based Randox Labs were awarded a £133million contract to supply DIY kits to NHS Test and Trace.
“Although there is low risk to the public, half a million have been withdrawn as precautionary measure.” Speaking in the Commons, Matt Hancock admitted problems were found with the swabs but said there was no suggestion test results were affected.
