Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley defended her husband after her 2024 opponent Donald Trump attacked him in a speech.

Trump was in South Carolina Saturday addressing a rally in Conway to get out the vote ahead of the state’s Republican primary on Feb. 24. Haley is also in South Carolina on the campaign trail after serving as the governor there. During his speech, Trump commented on Haley’s husband, Michael Haley, who is a National Guardsman.

“Where’s her husband? Oh, he’s away. He’s away!” Trump said of him. “What happened to her husband? What happened to her husband? Where is he? He’s gone.” Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about. Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.“Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about,” Haley responded on X. “Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.

While Haley has made stops along her home state, her staff has passed out competency tests with a prompt on the top that read: “Can you pass a mental competency test? Can Joe Biden? Can Donald Trump?” The questions involved naming animals, language fluency, and memory.. Trump has earned the endorsement of most of the former candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis , Vivek Ramaswamy, and Sen. Tim Scott .

Haley has lost in each race so far, starting with the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 15. Since then, Haley has been defeated by Trump in New Hampshire, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Nevada.
