PETALING JAYA: Hairdresser associations will not increase rates for their services and are only allowed to charge customers for disposable cape and gloves, says the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.
Its enforcement director Datuk Iskandar Halim Sulaiman said the ministry officials had met with seven hairdressing associations to discuss matters in relation to the price of haircut services.
“Such charges must commensurate with the cost of purchase of these two items only, ” he said in a statement on Friday . “Any hairdressers who were found to have increased their service charge were then instructed to lower their price to their original rates. “It is the new norm that must be adhered to avoid the spread of Covid-19. I wish to emphasise that the extra charges imposed on the customers can only be these two items: the disposable cape and the set of gloves, ” he said.
