The Metropolitan Police says a 36-year-old man wielding a sword has been arrested after an attack on members of the public and two police officers near an east London Tube station. Officers said they are not looking for more suspects and the attack 'does not appear to be terror related'.
The images show the scene from the air, with several roads in Hainault closed and police patrolling the area.Another witness to the Hainault attacks said there appeared to be a stand-off between police and the suspect in an alleyway before he heard a woman scream.
"I then heard a voice say something like 'she's been stabbed in the face' or 'we need assistance' - you know, calling for medical back-up."Police commentator Graham Whettone has spoken to Sky News about the initial response to an incident like this.It may well be armed police would be sent if the sword was seen when the call to emergency services was made - it depends on when the weapon would have been spotted.
"You can see that cordons are put in place, roads are secured, suspects are located, identified, then arrested. 10:16:38A witness to the incident in Hainault said he heard shrieking at about 7am before witnessing a man dressed in yellow clothing jumping over some fences.
