But despite how serendipitous their initial meeting might seem in retrospect, it turns out that Hailey had little to no inkling that the Biebs would one day become her husband., the model reflected on the moment she first laid eyes on Justin in 2009 — when she was just 13 years old. “I know, it sounds like this weird arranged marriage situation,” she said, pershow when Justin performed there. He was no more than 15 I think.
Hailey went on to say that this was all before Justin became super-famous and the Beliebers had yet to become the fan army they are today. “I met him and his mom and my dad kind of just connected as friends and we invited them over to our house the next day,” she went on to explain. “[Justin] and his mom just came over for family dinner…and we went bowling.”
OK, bowling is a cute first date activity! But still, Hailey didn’t feel any major sparks at the time. “Nowhere was there a thought that I was like, ‘Yeah, he probably has a crush on me,’” she told Fallon. “I did not — that was not the case at all. We just were hanging and [now] that is my entire husband. It’s ridiculous.”
It certainly goes to show that you never truly know what will happen in the future: a new acquaintance could one day turn into a close friend or, y’know, spouse. As the Biebs himself would say: “never say never!”
