Ukrainian security service workers who joined Russia-backed hacking group Armageddon have been given 15 years in prison in absentia.
A Ukrainian court has sentenced two Ukrainian hackers to 15 years in prison for carrying out over 5,000 cyberattacks against Ukraine on behalf of Russia, according to the Security Service of Ukraine .An SSU investigation investigation led to the arrest and charging of the unnamed pair, who are members of the hacker group Armageddon, which is backed by Russia's Federal Security Service . The hackers carried out attacks against Ukrainian institutions and infrastructure.
' The office said the pair specifically targeted law enforcement officers and military personnel.The Prosecutor's General Office also states that the hackers' goal was to frustrate the work of Ukraine, and 'carrying out actions of cyber influence in the interests of special and intelligence agencies of the Russian Federation.
