Rafael Nadal faces an almighty task to get past the first round of his final French Open appearance after being drawn to face Alexander Zverev. The Spaniard has won an unprecedented 14 French Open titles in his career, earning him the moniker as the 'King of Clay'.

David Mundee Houston Academy’s Mitchell Piedra has created a legacy like perhaps none other in Raiders’ boys tennis history. The two added to their success this spring. Piedra amassed a 22-2 record with a state semifinalist appearance as HA’s No. 1 singles player and complied a 23-2 record with a state title at No. 1 doubles with partner Brody Williams. Bilbeisi, playing at the No.

Piedra most likely would have earned 100 wins in both categories if COVID-19 not halted play early in the 2020 season. Other than the state title, Piedra focused on doing the best he could and having fun in his final year in high school. “Football helped a lot because we had our agility training and strength training,” Piedra said. “I would just swing at the ball and it would go a lot faster just from the muscle I obtained from football.”“I had the same power with my shots but was more consistent and I felt I moved better this year than my other years. My serve also really got better,” Piedra said.

“I felt I did pretty good,” said Bilbeisi, who reached the quarterfinals at state before losing to the eventual state champion. “I didn’t think I would win as many matches as I did. I only lost a few.”
