The Forbes 400, including 43 Texans, collectively are worth a record $5.4 trillion, after adding nearly $1 trillion to their net worth over the past 12 months.
San Antonio ’s Charles Butt has landed again on the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans and his sister, Eleanor Butt Crook , rejoined it despite the cutoff for making the list rising to a record $3.3 billion this year. Topping the rankings for the third straight year is Elon Musk , who this year moved the headquarters of SpaceX and X to join him in Texas . They were among 43 Texans to make the list in 2024.
Walmart heiress and Trinity University alum Alice Walton once again was the richest woman in the nation, with an estimated fortune of $89.2 billion putting her at No. 15. She’s claimed the top spot nine times in the past decade. Despite more women on the list, seven, there are still only a total of 67, including Walton and Crook.
