Grocery giant H-E-B is gearing up for a major expansion in the San Antonio area with plans for at least three new stores . The company has filed permits with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a 125,434-square-foot store at 10137 E. I-10, on vacant land purchased in 2015. While the filing designates the location as Converse, the Bexar Appraisal District lists the property as being in Schertz, a rapidly growing suburb. Construction on this $21.

2 million project is anticipated to commence in September and wrap up in November 2026. H-E-B representatives declined to comment on the project.Beyond the Schertz location, H-E-B also has its sights set on two other San Antonio-area stores. One is a $20 million, 116,760-square-foot facility planned for 7330 N. Loop 1604, situated across from the University of Texas at San Antonio's main campus. The other is a $29 million, 126,986-square-foot store and gas station slated for 15489 Culebra Road on the city's far West Side. Details regarding the opening dates for these stores remain undisclosed. H-E-B's recent expansion spree in Texas includes opening a new store in March at the Lemon Creek Ranch development along the I-10 corridor between San Antonio and Boerne. The company has also been actively expanding in both the Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin areas, opening and renovating stores in both regions. H-E-B currently operates over 435 stores across Texas and Mexico, with more than 50 of those locations serving the San Antonio community
