H-E-B introduces new Astros-themed ice cream in Houston-area stores
An Astros-themed ice cream from H-E-B is on sale for a limited time at Houston-area stores starting this week.The Texas grocery chain on Tuesday introduced a new Astros-themed ice cream that went on sale in local stores for a limited time beginning Monday. The ice cream is available all over the company's Houston region, from Bryan-College Station to Lake Jackson to Orange to Columbus.
The H-E-B Creamy Creations Houston Astros Peanut Brittle flavor features a peanut butter ice cream with peanut brittle pieces and caramel swirl. It will be available in both half-gallon and pint sizes, with the carton sporting an illustration featuring team mascot Orbit, an open-roof view of Minute Maid Park with the train above the left-field facade.
Five percent from each sale will be donated to the Astros Foundation to support youth baseball and softball programs, recognition of the military, childhood cancer awareness and efforts to reduce homelessness. “We are excited to work with our longstanding partner H-E-B to bring this sweet treat to Houstonians,” Matt Brand, the the Astros’ senior vice president of corporate partnerships, said in a statement. “Both H-E-B and the Astros are iconic brands in Houston and to be able to also use this project to give back to our Houston community through donation to the Astros Foundation, something we both are so passionate about, makes it even more exciting.
