The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley said Thursday it’s renaming the recently acquired stadium, which had been known as H-E-B Park.
H-E-B is being replaced in the Valley. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley said Thursday it’s renaming its recently acquired football stadium, which had been known as H-E-B Park. The home of the new UTRGV Vaqueros football team is now the Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium. The name change comes with a $20 million donation from the Vackars, Valley natives who are principal owners of the Bert Ogden Auto Group and known for the university’s Robert C.
” The Vackars also created an endowed scholarship and have a student research program at Vackar College of Business. “I think we’re doing the right thing,” Robert Vackar said of the continuing support of higher education. “It’s making a major impression on the Valley and the quality of life for the people down here.” As H-E-B Park, the stadium in Edinburg was home to the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros of the United Soccer League, which ceased operations in December.
