Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts/RESCUE looking determined in armor in Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Gwyneth Paltrow sets her first movie role since Avengers: Endgame, starring alongside Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme. Over one month ago, it was announced that Chalamet would be starring in and serving as a producer on Marty Supreme, an A24 film focusing on the life and career of a ping-pong player Marty Reisman. The movie is co-written by Ronald Bronstein and directed by Josh Safdie who, along with his brother Benny, has previously co-directed Good Time and Uncut Gems.
Now, the Oscar-winning actress has set her first film role since Avengers: Endgame. According to Entertainment Weekly, Paltrow has been cast in an undisclosed role in Marty Supreme alongside Chalamet. The report comes a little more than a month after it was disclosed that Chalamet would be both starring in and producing the project.
Paltrow accepting a role in Marty Supreme signals her renewed interest in acting. Additionally, starring in an A24 movie signals a return to mid-budget movies for Paltrow, as opposed to blockbusters and franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the 1990s, Paltrow established herself as a leading lady in mid-budget movies like Seven, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Shakespeare in Love – the last of which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress.
