We chat with Wednesday star Gwendoline Christie (lovegwendoline) about Larissa Weems' arc, her feelings for Nevermore, and her complicated dynamic with Morticia Addams:
Wednesday is currently sitting at the top of Netflix's shows, dominating the internet conversation over the Thanksgiving holiday due to a combination of Addams Family nostalgia and high school murder-mystery excitement. The series begins with Wednesday Addams being carted off to a special boarding school by Morticia and Gomez, where she will stay with outcasts with a wide range of supernatural powers situated just outside a town full of "normies.
Gwendoline Christie: I really loved that relationship so much. There's always something really energizing about two people that hate each other; I think that it really works. I think it's probably helped by the fact that I was completely in awe of Catherine Zeta-Jones. She is a proper star. She is a movie star, and I was quite starstruck. I also really didn't want to mess up because she is a brilliant actress, and I the last thing I wanted was to cause her any degree of pain. She was great, fun, and hugely generous—and I was silent and probably quite weird. I'm sure it just fed into the reality of the scene.
