According to the New York Post, Trump was escorted to safety by Secret Service agents, after they opened fire on a man who was spotted with what is believed to be a gun.Sources claim the Secret Service spotted a suspicious individual on the course, and opened fire several times after they noticed what appeared to be the barrel of a gun.
The US Secret Service said it was investigating the incident which occurred shortly before 2pm local time.Mr Trump returned to Florida after visiting the West Coast of the US where he spoke to his supporters at a rally in Las Vegas and a fundraiser in Utah.During the assassination attempt, the former president dropped to the ground after shots were fired and was swiftly rushed off-stage by security staff.
