A startling scene outside McDonald's on Government Blvd. near Pleasant Valley Rd.; Just after 5 Wednesday evening, Mobile Police officers were following the driver of a dark gray Dodge Ram pickup who, at first, refused to stop.As customers and restaurant staff watched, officers then approach the truck with guns drawn... shouting commands to the driver to get out of his truck.But witnesses tell NBC 15 News he kept trying to reach back into the vehicle to get...
Remarkably, as officers continued to train their weapons on the man, curious motorists drove through the scene, one woman even hopping the curb to work her way around the officer's vehicles. After several more tense moments, the man slowly walked backward, hands behind his head until officers were able to approach him and then handcuff him.The driver was eventually put into a police car, his vehicle hooked up to a tow truck.
But moments before he was taken to Metro Jail, the driver shouted out of the window of the patrol car, saying "They pulled me over for speeding." NBC 15 News has reached out to Mobile Police about the incident and will offer an update when we get a response.
