Gun Owners SA calls for firearm amnesty to be halted eNCA

It started on 1 December and will apply until the end of May 2020.

Paul Oxley, chairperson of Gun Owners South Africa, said the organisation is not against an amnesty programme in theory, but said the amnesty is designed to confiscate guns from owners whose licenses have expired.Oxley maintains the reason behind many of the expirations is due to police administrative problems.

He said the conditions of the amnesty bill are not legal and claimed members of Parliament were intimidated into pushing the legislation through.
