One man is dead and another is injured after a gun battle near a playground in New Kensington on Sunday afternoon, the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office said.
New Kensington police responded to the scene after a report of shots being fired about a half-block away from the city’s police department in the courtyard of Valley Royal Court apartments, according toPolice tape was put up around the JFK playground and a portion of the grounds surrounding the Valley Royal Court along Fourth Avenue between 11th St. and Hileman Drive while investigators went door-to-door seeking witnesses.Officials have not released the ages or names of the victims.
