Three states are now under tropical storm warnings.
Three states along the U.S. Gulf Coast are under tropical storm warnings from the National Hurricane Center, with the first storm of this hurricane season expected to hit the U.S. over the weekend.A tropical storm warning is in effect from Intracoastal City in central Louisiana to the Alabama/Florida border, and includes metropolitan New Orleans.on Potential Tropical Cyclone Three on Thursday afternoon, which should soon strengthen into Tropical Storm Claudette.
Rainfall will be the storm's main threat, with some areas expected to see up to a foot of rain that will cause"considerable flash, urban, and small stream flooding beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend," according to the National Hurricane Center. The projected path has the storm making landfall in central Louisiana some time early Saturday morning, but the biggest impacts will likely stretch far east, since the worst of the weather is heavily lopsided to the east of the storm's center."Unfortunately Louisianans are all too familiar with the impacts and the need to be prepared... The time is now to make sure that you are doing what you can to prepare for the storm," Louisiana Gov.
