A family in Reynosa, Mexico, became victims of a violent shootout between rival Gulf Cartel factions. The gunmen, engaged in a turf war, fired indiscriminately into homes, killing a woman and her two young grandchildren.
Gunmen affiliated with the Gulf Cartel , a foreign terrorist organization, fatally shot a woman and her two young grandchildren as they slept in their home located in the border city of Reynosa , Tamaulipas . The incident unfolded on Monday shortly after midnight when authorities responded to reports of a shootout between rival cartel members in the Canda neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered a black Volkswagen truck riddled with bullet holes and bloodstains.
As authorities investigated the vehicle, local residents alerted them to a shooting at a nearby apartment. Upon entering the residence, authorities found a 43-year-old woman deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Also present were her 25-year-old daughter and the daughter's two children, aged five and three, all suffering from gunshot injuries. Emergency medical personnel transported the three to a local hospital. Tragically, the young children succumbed to their injuries shortly after. The mother remains in critical condition. Near the house, authorities located the body of one gunman, who also sustained multiple gunshot wounds. No other suspects were apprehended. While the investigation remains in its early stages, authorities believe the family was unintentionally caught in the crossfire during the clash between rival cartel factions. This deadly shooting emerges amidst an escalating turf war between two main factions within the Gulf Cartel vying for control of lucrative drug and human trafficking routes. Breitbart Texas has reported that both factions have escalated their tactics, employing high-powered weapons and armored vehicles, and resorting to terrorist methods including explosives, landmines, and even drones to deploy IEDs. The indiscriminate use of explosives by the Gulf Cartel has already resulted in the death of one Texas resident and numerous casualties among Mexican nationals
