Ahmaud Arbery's parents and prominent civil rights figures raised their hands together outside the courthouse in Brunswick, Georgia, after a jury found
guilty of murder and other charges for chasing down and shooting dead the 25-year-old Black man, joining many in applauding the convictions as a major milestone toward eliminating racial inequality in the criminal justice system.... Arbery's mother, Wanda Cooper Jones, commended the verdict and added that she"never thought this day would come" when her son was gunned down on February 23, 2020.said in a statement,"While the guilty verdicts reflect our justice system doing its job, that alone is not enough," calling Arbery's murder a"devastating reminder of how far we have to go in the fight for racial justice.
