A guest is believed to have been struck by a ride at Kings Island on Wednesday.
WARREN COUNTY, Ohio -
It happened at approximately 8 p.m. It's believed that the guest entered a restricted, fenced-in area of the Banshee roller coaster, where he was then struck by the ride. The 38-year-old from Ohio was trying to retrieve his keys, per police. The park's safety and first aid personnel immediately responded to the situation and contacted local emergency responders. The guest was then taken to UC Medical Center for treatment, where he was in critical condition."Kings Island's focus continues to be on the welfare of the guest and his family. There's no additional information to share at this time," said a statement by Kings Island.“I don’t think you can necessarily fault the park," he said.
He added, “Things are not as important as your life. It can wait. There’s a reason you’re not supposed to go back to those areas and it’s not worth it to try and circumvent the security measures because they’re there for a purpose. It can get really dangerous really fast.”
