Federal Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez ruled Thursday night that Diamond Sports Group, which filed for bankruptcy in March, must honor its regional sports network contracts with the Guardians, Twins, Rangers and Diamondbacks.

“MLB appreciates the ruling from the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Houston requiring Diamond to pay the full contractual rate to clubs. As always, we hope Diamond will continue to broadcast games and meet its contractual obligations to clubs. As with the Padres, MLB will stand ready to make games available to fans if Diamond fails to meet its obligations.”

Lawyers representing the Guardians also showed during the two-day hearing that the Guards have one of the post profitable RSNs in Diamond’s stable of 13 big league teams. Diamond still has the right to terminate the contracts with the teams that they don’t feel are profitable. DSG, which holds contracts with 13 MLB teams, did that on Tuesday with the San Diego Padres.
