Francisco and Carlos will face their old team this weekend in the Big Apple.
The two franchises haven’t played each other since 2019, meaning it’ll be the first time four-time All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor will face the Guardians since the team traded him and Carlos Carrasco to the Mets for second baseman Andrés Giménez, shortstop Amed Rosario and two minor leaguers.
You can argue who won the trade, but it has certainly benefitted both teams. Lindor, however, has struggled at the plate this year, batting .225 with 6 homers and 31 RBI in 45 games. He’s also facedfrom former teammate Jason Kipnis. Can Mr. Smile turn it around this weekend? But, wait, there’s more! “Cookie” Carrasco returns from the disabled list tonight to face the only other team he’s pitched for in a showdown with Cal Quantrill.
