Santana returned in 2019 as part of a trade with Seattle and earned his first All-Star appearance and Silver Slugger Award. After the 2020 season, he signed as a free agent with Kansas City, and has played with the Mariners, Pirates, Brewers and Twins since then. Naylor, who hit 31 home runs and drove in 108 for Cleveland last season, was due to earn about $12 million in his final arbitration year, according to projections from MLBTradeRumors.com. The move also opens up playing time for rookie Kyle Manzardo at first base. Manzardo hit .270 with five home runs and eight RBI in his second stint with the club in September, making the postseason roster and adding a home run against the Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series.
