Guardians recall veteran lefty to help bullpen.
CLEVELAND -- Logan Allen, after taking a line drive off the head in the first inning Monday night, was optioned to Class AAA Columbus on Tuesday to make room for veteran reliever Anthony Gose.
Allen was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Arizona’s Randall Grichuk in the first inning. He stayed in the game and rebounded to pitch four scoreless innings after allowing homers to the first two batters he faced in the first inning. Gose, 33, missed all of the 2023 season recovering from Tommy John surgery on his left elbow. He has pitched at Class AAA Columbus this season where he went 5-4 with 10 saves and a 3.29 ERA in 35 games. Gose struck out 55 and walked 23 in 38 1/3 innings.
