Josh Naylor became the first Cleveland player ever to homer into McCovey Cove.
SAN FRANCISCO — Josh Naylor made a splash early, but Cleveland’s offense dried up after that, failing to come up with a big hit to put the game away Monday in a 5-4 walkoff loss to the Giants at Oracle Park.
The Guardians lost for the fifth time in their last six games and are 5-14 all-time aganst San Francisco. Cleveland missed another chance to cut into Minnesota’s lead in the American League Central Division. The Twins lost earlier in the day to the Rays, but still lead Cleveland by 7 1/2 games with 17 to play.
In his last seven games, Naylor is batting .381 with a pair of home runs and seven RBI in 21 at-bats.
