“I think that may have been a personal record (for fastest ejection),” said Terry Francona on Sunday morning.
The Guardians wanted to review the catch in left field and the out call at first base. They had 15 seconds to let the umpires know if they wanted to make the challenge official. They didn’t beat the clock.
Francona signaled to plate umpire Brian Knight that they were considering a challenge. Apparently, he should have signaled Tichenor as well, because as soon as he signaled, the 15-second timer started.
