Triston McKenzie and Aaron Civale are getting closer to a return for Cleveland.
Cleveland Guardians, St. Louis CardinalsGuardians manager Terry Francona waited until the club talked with the right-hander before making his start official. Both pitchers will look to get stretched out to about 85 pitches, Francona said.
Civale is recovering from a strained left oblique and is eligible to come off the 15-day injured list at any time. McKenzie, who is on the 60-day injured list, is eligible to return May 29 from a strained teres major muscle in his right shoulder. Francona was asked whether or not these would be the final rehab starts for both pitchers before they are ready to rejoin the Guardians.
Rookie Cody Morris, meanwhile, will pitch Sunday for Akron before transitioning to Columbus as he recovers from a teres major strain himself.

The reaction to both of these developments has been overblown, as the impact on the game will not be as high as most assume.
