KOTA KINABALU: Opposition Parti Warisan has accused Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) of trying to strengthen its “backdoor government” by allegedly engineering defections amid a move to create a unity government in Sabah.

Warisan vice-president Datuk Junz Wong said that the talk of a unity government was merely a tactic by the GRS state government, led by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, to continue to lure assemblymen for its own political interests.

Wong, who is Tanjung Aru assemblyman, claimed that the GRS government is continuing to delay the anti-hopping enactment for the state and wants to engineer more defections of assemblymen despite Parliament enacting the anti-hopping law last year. “One of the assemblymen, who was recorded in a video clip sometime in January this year, had openly admitted that millions of ringgit and positions were being offered to them to leave Warisan,” he said.

“GRS has performed so badly in terms of governance and service rendered to the rakyat. I advise GRS to work harder to serve the people well or face their wrath,” he added.
