Texans on Mission arrived in Northeast Tennessee last week, to clean up debris and damage caused by Helene.

Captain of the group, Gary Herndon said this is the groups 4th house they’ve worked on since arriving here a few days ago. ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — A group out of Dallas, Texas, Texans on Mission, came out here to help clean up the damage that was done and to get these houses back on track to becoming homes again.

"The flood waters came up between 1 and 2 feet, so we have to take off all of the wall board, and all of the appliances," said Herndon."We had to clear about furnishings. We had to clear out appliances, clear out bathrooms, tubs, all the different things in the house. We take all the cabinets out, all the flooring," said Herndon.

"Everything that water can get under and mold can live in - cause that's the idea, down to the very base materials of wood, so we can disinfect it, kill all the mold and then they can start again and rebuild," said Herndon.
