Humza Yousaf held an emotional meeting with Linda McVean and Maureen Thomson
Two bereaved mums have met Scotland’s First Minister to demand he puts an end to the “dumping” of homeless people in drug den hotels.
She said: “I think he was genuinely moved by the trauma we’ve had to endure. He said he has two girls himself and he couldn’t begin to imagine how he’d cope if his own family had to experience anything like the nightmare we’ve been through. She added: “He spoke to us for an hour and came across as very sincere and caring, so we hope he comes up with something that can help families avoid the situation we have had to face.
Campaigners for the Scottish Tenants Association also put their case yesterday for £26 million funding for Glasgow’s homeless services, which has the most acute need and has seen the majority of homeless deaths. Clerkin welcomed Yousaf’s pledge earlier this week to make £60 million available to councils and social landlords to buy empty and private sector houses to alleviate the temporary accommodation crisis.
