The former Alabama quarterback balances scrutiny and performance.

@GregMcElroyThere’s no answer key or proven scientific formula to grade Kalen DeBoer’s first year as the coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.Still, there are few with more football knowledge and access behind the curtain than Greg McElroy. The former Alabama quarterback took a stab at grading DeBoer recently on his “Always College Football” podcast.

McElroy took into account DeBoer was replacing a legend in Nick Saban and, of course, the scrutiny that comes with the Alabama job. “The portal was difficult from start to finish,” McElroy explained. Just constantly a roller coaster. That is going to be something very important to try and iron out as they continue to move forward.”“I also think you need to look at the penalties, and you need to look at the amount of scrutiny this team is naturally always going to receive,” he added.. He can be heard on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 FM in Mobile or on the free Sound of Mobile App from 6 to 9 a.m. daily.
