Gov. Greg Abbott is already putting his growing relationship with President Donald Trump on display for the nation. The Texas governor will be in Washington , D.C. on Wednesday to meet with Trump at the Oval Office on immigration issues, and he will be with Trump later when he signs an executive order banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports. Abbott touted the trip on social media and said he had already met with Trump’s newly appointed border czar, Tom Homan .
Gov. Greg Abbott says he supports Texas legalizing sports gambling “Earlier this morning I spoke with Tom Homan about immigration enforcement strategies,” Abbott wrote on social media. Homan and Abbott already have a relationship. Homan has frequently praised Abbott’s border security measures and the two did a joint event in Eagle Pass in November. Abbott’s office confirmed the Republican governor will be with Trump in the East Room of the White House at 2 p.m.
