The video shows the doctor examining the fetus' heartbeat with the patient offscreen before saying that the baby has a"nice, strong heartbeat" and that everything is"right on schedule." The doctor, recognizing that this is the patient's first child, then offers free parenting classes.
"We do need to prepare you for the possibility of a C-section and long-term health issues," the doctor says."Greg Abbott chose this," the 41-second ad then states, before asking Texans what they choose.Some defended the ad, while others said the provocative ad would do little to prevent him from winning the governor's race next month. Some expressed confusion about the ad.
"Wtf is going on in America?," one Reddit user commented on the post."That feels like some kind of horror movie scene." A ban on abortions went into effect in Texas in August after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June., and is the most populated state to have banned abortions. Performing an abortion in the state is a felony from the moment of fertilization unless the pregnant patient faces a"life-threatening physical condition aggravated by, caused by, or arising from a pregnancy," the Tribune reported.
