The Greens continue to condemn the $2.7 billion Gabba redevelopment for the 2032 Olympics as a 'deplorable waste of money' and says a Greens-controlled council would withdraw its support for the plan.

Analysis by the ABC's Antony Green after the 2020 council election showed since 2004, the Greens' party vote across Brisbane wards increased from 10.2 per cent to 17.8 per cent.In last year's federal election, the Greens won three Brisbane seats — two from the LNP and one from Labor. But if it does happen, he said a Greens-controlled council would withdraw its support for the Brisbane Games if the rebuild went ahead.

"The mere fact of the host city council saying 'we don't want the Olympics' would have a dramatic impact on how the Olympics is talked about internationally and how successful the Olympics ultimately is," he said.
