Nordonia and Green met Friday night in a Division II, Region 5 quarterfinal.
MACEDONIA, Ohio — When Jeff Fox’s team needed to make a defensive stand, they delivered, especially in the second half. No. 3 Nordonia outscored No. 6 Green 21-3 in the second half, leading them to a 42-17 win in the Division II, Region 5 quarterfinal Friday night.
“I felt like our kids were so locked in, they wanted this so bad,” Fox explained of heading into halftime. “Our guys are thinking about winning and losing and want it so bad … they just executed one play at a time like they had to and it was great to see.” The Bulldogs struggled to move the ball following a 14-point first quarter. They failed to score in the second quarter, with quarterback Tyson Hunka looking for players other than Martin to step up for some chunk plays.
The Knights started the third quarter with a three-and-out. To make matters worse, the ensuing punt went less than 20 yards and the Bulldogs took over on the Nordonia 29-yard line just two minutes into the second half.
