The upcoming live-action DC Universe TV show on HBO, Lanterns, has finally gotten an official release window from the DC Studios co-CEO himself.

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. After months of reports about when it would arrive on HBO, the DC Universe TV show, Lanterns, finally gets a proper release window by DC Studios.

The DCU's Chapter 1:"Gods and Monsters" will resume in 2026, and one of the highly anticipated projects is the Green Lanterns series, which will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart. In an interview with CBR, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran finally put to rest all the different reports about when the Lanterns series will premiere on HBO. According to Safran, the superhero drama will be arriving in late summer 2026, as he shared the following: Peter Safran: It was about when it made sense for it to be released, so could get the right lead in, the right promotion. Because it's an important show for everybody, and the show is going to be great. It was about the right timing, so it's going to be… it's late summer. But there's a reason for it. It had previously been stated by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav that the Lanterns TV show would be premiering in early 2026. A note to shareholders went out in November 2025, where Zaslav had stated the following: David Zaslav: Importantly, with its first theatrical release Superman, DC Studios marked a new era and critical first step on its 10-year journey to deliver fans a fresh and cohesive storyline across film and television, while bringing new heroes and villains to the surface. Building on Superman’s foundation, upcoming DC Studios projects include Lanterns, which will debut on HBO Max in early 2026; Supergirl and Clayface, which are scheduled for theatrical release in summer and fall 2026, respectively; and Man of Tomorrow, the follow-up to Superman, which James Gunn is currently writing and will again direct. We remain incredibly excited about the momentum at DC Studios and its prospects to re-connect with fans and ignite the next generation of these beloved characters.
