The organisation says a transition towards clean energy is the only logical solution to the energy crisis.
It says clean energy will also safeguard South Africans' right to a healthy environment.
Greenpeace Africa's senior climate and energy campaign manager, Melita Steele, said Medupi and Kusile are bad investments and that Eskom should channel funds into renewable energy."The renewable energy projects that have come online in South Africa are delivering on time and on budget and in fact, it was Eskom itself that campaigned against these renewable energy projects and prevented them from being signed," Steele said.
She advised the president initiate an emergency round of renewable energy bids that are fast-tracked to resolve the energy crisis.
