Scientists say the bright green comet will be visible in the night sky for almost a month.
Retired science teacher, Dan Bartlett, captured this image from his cabin near Yosemite National Park in CaliforniaA bright green comet is set to swing by Earth's outer space for the first time in 50,000 years, and may hang around for a month.
"I'm telling you - binoculars, dark site - you'll see something. Bring friends and you all will see something of a lifetime," Mr Bartlett told the BBC. To observers in the Northern Hemisphere without a telescope, the comet will appear like a "faint, greenish smudge in the sky", while those with a telescope could see the comet's dramatic visible tail, the Planetary Society said.
