According to the City of Greeley, 8th Street between U.S. 85 and U.S. 49 was closed early Wednesday morning due to flooding conditions. Drivers are advised to avoid the area until the flood waters subside, according to the city.
A temporary shelter at the Greeley Family FunPlex had been opened Tuesday night for anyone requiring shelter, according to a post from the city on the social platform X. According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, golf ball size hail had been reported in Johnstown, Colorado. That is a hail stone measuring 1.75 inches in diameter.8th Street is currently closed between US 85 and US 49. We advise all employees and residents to avoid this area until flood waters subside.
The strongest storms are likely on the eastern plains where a few storms could become severe.
