Greece has joined the chorus of holiday hotspots like Tenerife, Lanzarote, Majorca, and Menorca in calling for a 'ban' on British holidaymakers, as anti-tourism sentiments rise across Europe.
According to France24, the booming tourist sector is causing a spike in property prices, leaving local Greeks struggling. The report highlights that Greeks are spending over 40 per cent of their disposable income on housing, which is more than any other European nation. Athens has now made headlines with its plea to curb 'over-tourism', as reported by Birmingham Live. The city's buildings and walls have been defaced with large graffiti messages, including stark statements such as "Tourists Go Home! Greek State Kills".

Reacting to the news, one individual commented: "Spain will suffer heavy losses without tourism. Greece could not survive. Be careful what you wish for.
