Executive director Dr. Donna Johnson-Thompson says 'thank you' to all those who made summer camp possible for so many children.

Each year, the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund provides summer camp experiences for inner-city children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to go. This year, from June through August, youngsters boarded busses to enjoy the outdoors at Camp Winonah at Harriman State Park in New York and LifeCamp in Pottersville.

The 2023 summer camp season has just come to a close and Dr. Donna Johnson-Thompson, executive director of the Newark Day Center -- which runs the fund -- expresses her gratitude to those who helped: I would like to take the opportunity to say thank-you to everyone that has contributed to the success of the 2023 Fresh Air Fund. Your participation helped to give our campers a chance to “breathe fresh air” play, learn, and improve their life skills. A camping experience is something that you will never forget./The Star-Ledger for printing and sharing the Greater Newark Fresh Air Fund stories during the camping season.
