Young midfielder Archie Gray impresses on his Europa League debut for Tottenham Hotspur, contributing to a comfortable victory over Qarabag. He credits manager Ange Postecoglou's confidence in him for fueling his performance.

Archie Gray has boldly expressed his desire to remain audacious in his performances following a standout game on his European debut, contributing to Tottenham 's 3-0 trouncing of Qarabag on Thursday. Recently signed for a hefty £40 million from Leeds United in July, the versatile 18-year-old already seems at home in his new squad, delivering dynamic energy at right-back on the pitch during his second start for the club.

Although he blossomed as a midfielder, Gray showed his adaptability by seamlessly slotting into the role of an inverted full-back - a strategy favoured by manager Ange Postecoglou - and featured prominently despite the allowance of some spaces in defence which Qarabag looked to exploit. Even with Spurs being down to 10 men early on after Radu Dragusin's sending off, Gray was instrumental in securing an assertive first win in their Europa League campaign. Postecoglou appears to be playing a crucial role in developing the confidence in his younger players, a sentiment echoed by England Under-21 international Gray, who stated: 'I'm really grateful to have the manager we've got. I'm a big fan of him,' further elaborating, 'I'm grateful to have him here and to learn so much off him, it's a big opportunity for me.' Gray continued by sharing the positive impact of Postecoglou's endorsement, saying: 'To hear stuff like that from him, it makes you trust yourself even more and have more confidence to go out there and be fearless.' 'That's what he wants from us and hopefully we can go out and do that every game we're trusted to be in.' Gray has proudly followed in the illustrious footsteps of his grandfather Frank Gray and great uncle Eddie Gray by featuring in European competition, much like Frank did when he won the European Cup with Nottingham Forest back in 1980
