UPDATE: The grass fire that burned along I-580 in the Altamont Pass in Alameda County has been contained, CAL FIRE says.
Firefighters are battling a 25-acre grass fire along Interstate 580 in Alameda County Saturday morning, officials say.The Alameda County fire that burned in the Altamont Pass near Tracy Saturday morning is contained, CAL FIRE says.The fire was first reported around 7 a.m., crews said. By 8 a.m., the fire was at 25-acres.
The fire was eventually contained at 55 acres, CAL FIRE said. The agency revised the number of acres it burned from 75 acres. The CHP originally investigated possible arson since several fires have burned along the eight-mile stretch.The California Highway Patrol closed the right lane in the westbound direction where motorists experienced traffic delays.Video in the media player above is from a previous update
