Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI as November 19, 2026, in a letter to the company's shareholders. The letter also mentions the positive fiscal benefits the game will have for the company.
It's no secret that the lengthy journey towards the release of Grand Theft Auto VI has been one filled with ups and downs for fans, who are just desperate to play Rockstar's latest creation at this point.
Thus far, we've been through two known delays to the game's arrival date, though there have likely been at least three if you include internal plans. That led us to the currently scheduled release date of November 19, which we've been tentatively approaching relatively smoothly, with the opening of pre-orders for the game.
Now, we've had another update on what's going on at Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive, and it should come as good news to the millions of fans waiting in the wings. As first reported by Game Rant, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently shared a letter to the company's shareholders, as part of a wider proxy statement document that comes as part of SEC filings.
Within it, he shared a small insight into their release plans for the game, and it seems as though they're sticking to their guns for the time being. 2027 has the potential to be a major inflection point for our Company, defined by groundbreaking entertainment experiences - led by the planned November 19th release of Grand Theft Auto VI - creative and operational excellence, and record Net Bookings, the letter reads.
As well as obviously reaffirming the arrival date for the game, it also lets us know that they are openly talking about the positive fiscal benefits GTA VI will have for the company, which they are usually reticent to do unless they are really on the eve of its release. With so many years in development, there's no doubt that both Rockstar and Take-Two will want to realize some of the enormous potential that the game has, not only as a piece of art, but also as a way to generate income.
Opening pre-orders does do that, but it will be the first week after launch that does big things for the company's value. Some estimates are currently putting forward the idea that GTA VI could generate $5 billion during its first week in the wild, and that will be plenty of motivation for everyone concerned to do everything they can to avoid another delay.
We should hopefully get the third trailer for the game as well, relatively soon, with that actually a little overdue for what most fans were expecting. Red Dead Redemption 2 got its final trailer around 6 months out from release, which we're already past for GTA VI, meaning it surely can't be too long before we do get that reveal.
