Cuyahoga County prosecutors said O’Neal drove to the stadium the night of Nov. 21, climbed a fence and entered the complex. Once inside, he jumped into a Ford F-150 pickup and drove it on the field. He then made wide, spiraling ruts into a large section of the playing surface, according to police and prosecutors. O’Neal then left the stadium and drove away in his own vehicle.
The damage resulted in the stadium’s grounds crew working to make repairs before the team’s victory over Tampa Bay on Nov. 27. The damage was still visible during the television broadcast of the game, but it did not cause any serious issues for players. He is expected to be arraigned in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court at a later date. It is unclear whether O’Neal has an attorney, as the case has not been docketed.
