20-year-old Sean Amone was confirmed dead by the Salt Lake City Police Department, while the other victims remain in hospital.
Multiple agencies responded to North General Drive in Salt Lake City at around 2 a.m. on Sunday after the authorities received reports of a suspect in a white sedan opening fire at a party, according to Deseret News, who spoke to theAt the scene of the shooting, the police found 20-year-old Sean Amone dead, while four others were transported to a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. The hospitalized victims are in stable condition and are expected to survive.
Salt Lake Police Lt. Gary Trost said that the authorities were unsure how many people were in attendance at the party or how many shots were fired, but confirmed that the victims were all either 19 or 20 years old. Larry Madden, the Superintendent of the Salt Lake City Schools District, sent an email to the parents of schools in the area, confirming that all five victims had attended facilities in the district.13."We know many of you have been impacted by this tragedy and wanted to offer our support as district and school administration."
The district is offering counseling at schools in the area from Monday to Thursday this week, as Madden asked parents and guardians"to please keep an eye on your student in the coming days and weeks. This is a critical time, especially given that school is about to let out for the summer."
