City gets $250,000 for study of options to improve traffic along North Santa Fe in the Vista Village area
A proposal to improve circulation for vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians around the Vista Transit Center got a boost from $250,000 in funding announced Tuesday by Rep. Mike Levin.
“I’m thrilled to help bring additional affordable, safe, and accessible transportation options to Vista,” said Levin, D-San Juan Capistrano. “This funding will benefit everyone who uses transportation infrastructure in the area, including the over 9,000 people living within a half-mile radius of the Vista Transit Center.
Construction of grade-separated railroad crossings can cost hundreds of millions of dollars, he said. Planning, design and approvals from the government agencies involved can take years. Completion of the studies will help Vista get additional funding for the proposed improvements, said Councilmember Contreras.
