PUTRAJAYA: Plans to streamline allowances for the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) and the Federal Village Development and Security Committee (JPKKP) are being considered, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said that the move was in line with the current times and the workload of the two committees.
At present, he said the allowance given by the Federal Government was RM500, but there were states like Selangor and Johor, which paid RM1500 and RM1200, respectively.“This is because we also have to take into account the country’s financial situation and to discuss with the Finance Ministry,” he told reporters after chairing the 55th meeting between the ministry and rural executive councillors here today .
The meeting also discussed strengthening infrastructure development and basic facilities in Sabah and Sarawak as part of the government’s efforts to fulfil the Malaysia Agreement 1963 . Other discussions include strengthening the Technical and Vocational Education and Training , he said. Ahmad Zahid also said that the MEXCLUB meeting will be held three times a year to focus on rural development issues.
