Govt continues commitment to safeguarding welfare of Armed Forces veterans

ALOR SETAR: The government continues to be committed to safeguarding the welfare of veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) through the implementation of various initiatives to further improve their socio-economy.

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said one of the initiatives was to increase the income of MAF veterans by providing them an opportunity for a second career, which is carried out in collaboration with several agencies such as the Armed Forces Fund Board .

As such, he advised MAF veterans who had yet to register with the Department of Veterans Affairs to do so to benefit from the various initiatives provided. He told this to reporters after visiting MAF veteran Masrizal Ishak, 42, who is bedridden due to systemic lupus erythematosus , at his residence in Kampung Masjid Hujung, Hutan Kampung here Sunday .
